Coming from the land now known as Vancouver, Christie Lee Charles is a direct descendant of the great warrior Capilano whose name you see across the lands today. This is who she is and where she is from, this is a part of Christie’s cultural protocol which she holds so dear. It is her passion to follow and share these teachings. Christie raps in her ancient Musqueam dialect, and has traveled the world and performed in China for the Olympics, for Chuck D of Public Enemy, opened WEday Vancouver with K’Nann & Hedly. She has welcomed guests to Vancouver such as the Dalia Lama and the Queen of Britain. Her passion is music and empowering aboriginal youth to stand and be proud of who you are and where you come from. Christie is a part of Vancouver’s First Ladies Crew, an all female hip hop crew of strong women with positive voices. Look out for Christie as she is here with her ancestors teachings that help her represent the past, present and future of this place we call Vancouver. This is her story.
